Despite the Limits
My name is Scot Storey, and I created this podcast, “Despite the Limits” to provide short conversations aimed at helping leaders grow professionally and personally. As a lifelong student of human connection, leadership, and communication, I am passionate about shaping the growth and capabilities of leaders. My personal journey in leadership development has been shaped by a career of service in the US Army’s Special Operations Forces leading numerous teams from just a few operators to organizations several thousand people strong, with the Army’s Rangers, Green Berets and Civil Affairs units in some the world’s most remote and arduous conditions. I believe in the power of a good story to shape personal connections and help people reach their full potential. That is what this podcast is all about.

Despite the Limits
Setting Goals
Episode 18 of Despite the Limits is the third in a series of podcasts exploring practical steps you can take when you feel stuck or simply cannot seem to get started moving toward your dream.
In this episode I talk with more detail about step two – “Setting Goals”. Goal setting can keep us from moving forward in our efforts to succeed for a couple of reasons. One reason is because we simply just don’t make them. The other reason, and the focus of this episode is our goals are not expressed in a way we can actually take action on them. That is where SMART goals come in to play. SMART is an acronym that stands for – Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time-bound.
Here is a link to Episode 16 – “What to do when you’re stuck” if you want to listen to the overview of the six steps again or if you have not heard it yet here is a link: https://www.buzzsprout.com/2303705/15478024
For review, the six steps are:
1.Overcome Limiting Beliefs
2.Set goals
3.Develop a plan
4.Build a coalition for support
5.Learn from failure
6.Celebrate the small wins
I also reference Episode 9 – “Drivers Drive” which is all about multitasking. Here is the link to that one of if you want to listen to it too: https://www.buzzsprout.com/2303705/episodes/15037490
